Amaranth is a quiet, friendly place to live and work. Yet, we're close to Brampton, Alliston, Barrie, Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo and the Greater Toronto Area via quick access to major highways. We have a strong, stable and permanent local workforce with access to Orangeville, Shelburne and Grand Valley.

Environmentally Conscious

Amaranth is a community with an environmental consciousness encompassing tracts of the Dufferin Forest, the Luther Marsh naturalist area, the Bruce Trail through the Niagara Escarpment (World Biosphere Reserve), and the Headwaters of the Grand River, one of Canada’s Heritage Rivers. We strive to have some of the lowest waste generated per family in Ontario via a broad variety of environmental programs:

• composting
• recycling
• electronic/hazardous waste days
• "Take It Back" programs

Recently, as another example, Ducks Unlimited worked closely with the landowner of a 100-acre parcel in Amaranth and created fresh wetlands, thereby enhancing the habitat for people, animals and birds.

Our peaceful, rural landscapes provide inspiration for various artists who operate studios and galleries in Amaranth.
