Waste Management in the County
Waste management responsibilities within the County of Dufferin are divided between the County and the eight local municipalities. Local municipalities are responsible for garbage, recycling , yard waste, and large item pick-up.
The County manages the DUFFERIN COMPOSTS! Organics Program, Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Goods Recycling Event Days, the Take It Back! Product Stewardship Program, as well as other initiatives that further reduce the amount of waste being landfilled.

Hazardous Waste and Electronic Goods Recycling Event Days 2011
Events will be held May 7 - Town of Mono; May 28 - Primrose; June 25 - Orangeville; Wednesday, July 13 - Primrose; Wednesday, August 17 - Orangeville; September 10 - Grand Valley; October 1 - Primrose; October 29 - Orangeville.
Acceptable Electronic Goods for Electronic/Hazardous Waste Day :
Personal Desktops, personal and laptop computers
(including Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor)
Printers, Scanners, Drives & Modems
Televisions VCR and DVD Players
Telecommunications Equipment (Switches & Relays)
Electronic Relays & Contractors
Telephones (Mobile, Cellular & Hardwire, answering machines)
Electronic Pagers, Fax Machines, Handheld digital assistants, personal handheld computers
Electronic Medical Equipment (Diagnostic & Monitoring)
Electronic Cash Registers & Electronic Calculators
Radio & Stereo Equipment
Cameras (Film, tape, disk, digital)
